What is probate court? Probate court is in the courthouse in your local town. It is a court that only deals with estates and probate wills. There are even times when minor children have to be appointed to foster homes, and probate court deals with them. The minor will be appointed a guardian, which is someone who represents what is best for the minor child.

Probate court and Probate Attorneys also deals with adoptions, name changes, marriage licenses, and many other things. If you hear someone talking about how they have to go to trial court. This is also a probate court; it deals with all the above cases I have mentioned.  If you were once married and wanted to change your name, this is where you would go. You can have any kind of name change, for kids, you, or anyone. The probate court also deals with wills. A will is when someone dies it states that get what.

If you know someone who has to go to probate court, you should tell them they should be represented by a lawyer. That way all their rights are protected. The court uses a lot of legal terms that we may not understand. It is helpful to have someone on your side to ask what it means.
